Nuremberg prosecutor in Delray donates $1M

One Palm Beach County man has made it his life-long mission to end wars.

Ben Ferencz helped convict Nazi leaders for murder during the Nuremberg Trials after World War II. He is the last living prosecutor from those trials.

The 97-year-old now lives outside Delray Beach.

This year he donated $1 million to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum for the prevention of genocide. The museum will use the money to establish the Ben Ferencz International Justice Initiative.

“There are wars all over the world,” Ferencz said. “People are being murdered, genocide is taking place, crimes against humanity are taking place. And we lack the intelligence, or the capacity and willingness, to try to build a system to make that impossible.”

Ferencz continues to work to end war by helping enact international laws.

He will speak to a sold out crowd Tuesday night at B’nai Torah Congregation in Boca Raton.
