"The state definitely lost today," said Elizabeth Parker, one of Michael Dippolito's lawyers, during a news conference Wednesday.

His lawyer expressed disappointment of a mistrial in the murder-for-hire trial.

Michael Dippolito told a room full of reporters he himself can't believe the outcome.

"I have to say that I am really surprised, I feel like they just showed a quarter of the facts," he said.

He's disappointed he was never asked to take the stand during the second trial, believing if he did, there would be a verdict.

"Put a face to it. Challenge me, challenge me on the stand. I'm not lying. I didn't do anything," added Michael Dippolito.

Dippolito says he can't believe what started out as newly married years ago, is now two trials that have captured national attention.

"I would like to thank the Boynton Beach Police Department, they saved my life. And it was sad to hear them saying how bad they are, for a few days. Even the prosecutor, I want to thank them. It didn't go the way I wanted it. But I'm appreciative for everything everyone has done for me," he said.
