South Florida Star Wars fans were showing their force at the box office Friday.

For hardcore fans of the series, the IMAX theater in at the Museum of Science and Discovery was the theater they were looking for for the premiere of Rouge One: A Star Wars Story.

The 80-foot screen at the museum was the center of their Star Wars universe Friday.

Go to work and school they did not.

"We were in the front of the line, it was worth it," Star Wars fan Dianna Orofino says.

It just goes to show what this series means to many.

After a ten-year absence from theaters, last year's 'The Force Awakens' blew away fans, and the box office.

Now fans are hoping the resurgence continues with 'Rogue One'.

Everybody has their reason for being among the first in line.

Greg Panagiotatos came to the theater to take it all in with his son.

"It's something that I've been doing since I was a kid, and I can pass that on to my son," he says.

Longtime fan Eduardo Rosas-Loranca says not only is the franchise entertaining, but he also says it provides a few teachable moments.

"They empower underdogs, they empower women," he says. "I think the message of redemption…is pretty important."

No matter the reason, fans say they're strapped in and ready for another trip to a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

Not to be outdone, over at Cinepolis in Jupiter a group from the international Star Wars fan organization the 501st Legion were dressed as storm troopers Friday.

They took pictures with fans as they came in to watch the movie.
