LG portable air-conditioners recalled

(NBC NEWSCHANNEL) A fire hazard has prompted the recall of nearly half a million portable air conditioners.

The recall involves three models of LG portable air conditioners with the LG logo on the front.

They can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

LG Electronics has received four reports of fires that have caused $380,000 in property damage. No injuries have been reported.

Home Depot and other stores nationwide sold the portable air conditioners from February 2011 through August 2016.

An additional 36,000 units of the recalled portable air conditioners were sold in Canada.

Consumers should contact LG to schedule a free repair at an authorized service center.

LG can be reached toll-free at 855-791-0808 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT on Saturday or online at www.lgportablerecall.com
