We wanted to make sure you know that the premiere will be rated TV14 –L,V, which means this program contains some material (in this case intense violence and strong coarse language) that many parents would find unsuitable for children under 14 years of age.
There is much discussion these days about whether the government should decide the content on television. "The Inside" is the type of series that could be the target of censorship, so we wanted to let you know you can let your voice be heard by joining a new coalition called TV WATCH.
TV WATCH (www.televisionwatch.org) was founded by a non-partisan, non-sectarian group of individuals, businesses (including News Corporation, which owns the FOX network) and educational organizations who believe that individual responsibility, not governmental control, is the best way for parents to determine what is appropriate for their family’s viewing.
Recent TV WATCH studies indicate that 92% of viewers would rather decide for themselves what they can watch on TV, rather than have the government make that decision for them, and an equally overwhelming 88% don’t want the government to decide what they can and cannot watch. Finally, 86% of survey respondents believe that parents are the ones best suited to determine what their kids watch. Even President Bush, when asked recently about the situation, indicated that parents are the ones who should make viewing decisions for their families, saying, “They put an off button on the TV for a reason.”
If you believe, as we do, that viewing decisions should rest in your hands, and not be dictated by governmental interests, join TV WATCH. You can find out more about TV WATCH on the Web at www.televisionwatch.org.
