Not far from the snap of a golf club and the roar of the Bears Trap, the sound of recovery fills a teen room at Palm Beach Children’s Hospital. A place where every color pops and every smile shines.

”They are a charity that we can call literally at a moment notice and they come running,” says Child Life Specialist Melissa Spencer.

She’s speaking of Little Smiles. A charity worth its weight in gold around the halls and 84 beds that comprise this facility.

“We just stop at nothing to create a smile, we'll do just about anything,” says Greta Von Unruh, Executive Director of Little Smiles.

From Nerf football gunfights, to pizza parties and wish lists, you name it they do it. Simply by bringing a little joy to small patients, some battling the biggest fight of their life.

“It is why we do what we do,” says Unruh.

It is all due in large part to the Honda classic which on average gives $10,000 to this charity every year. They're one of 130 charities from Honda Cares sharing over a million dollars from the PGA Tour event.

“It’s always enough to maybe cover are one of our facilities or a smaller facility for an entire year,” says Unruh.

It is the joy of giving back to make someone’s day a little brighter. For these little superheroes, that’s the best dose of medicine they could ever receive.

“They bring us as much inspiration and just as much joy and happiness and smiles as we try to bring them,” says Unruh.

Little Smiles has been in Palm Beach County for 18 years. For more information visit their website at:  www.littlesmiles.org
