Neighbors upset over Harrouf TV interview

Auburn McFarland moved into the Moorings community not long before last summer’s tragedy.

“They were just really nice people.  I don’t know why anyone would want to harm them in any way," said McFarland, referring to neighbors John Stevens and Michelle Mischon.

I showed Austin Harrouff’s Dr. Phil interview Tuesday to McFarland, and a second neighbor who agreed to speak about it.

“I feel frankly that what he did was absolutely shameful," said a neighbor who didn't want to be identified.

One said the tears Austin Harrouff shed when he was apologizing were “crocodile tears.” Both men were angry over what they were seeing and also, perhaps, seeing anger in the interview subject.

“He had bloodshed on his mind and he wanted to take it out on someone," said McFarland.

The murders of Stevens and Mishcon have still shaken the neighborhood where they lived.

“We used to keep the doors open at night but now there’s no more of that," said McFarland.

After seeing the part of the interview where Dr. Phil asks Harrouff if he's mentally ill, McFarland believes it.

“I think he’s insane, completely wacked out of his mind.”

Defense attorneys for Harrouff have yet to announce whether their client will be plead insanity.
