You can't miss it. There’s a banner of praise along the west side of Flagler Drive at 42nd Street.

“I said let's give some thanks to our police officers that have helped us out so much,” said Traynter Turpin.

Turpin nailed to his fence a big thank you to the West Palm Beach Police Department. He put a sign up with the help of his 8-year-old daughter, Jessi.

“We saw a nice good-size piece of wood, we decided to do a little thank you to the West Palm Beach Police Department,” explained Turpin. Jessi, added, “We really just want to help and thank them for helping us.”

It’s a token of appreciation for cleaning up the drugs and prostitution plaguing their street. Police said pictures taken by Turpin showed suspected prostitutes and possible drug deals.

“In the middle of the day from 8 a.m. on there was prostitution, there was blatant drugs being trafficked from one hand to the other,” said Turpin.

The environment outside his home got so bad that Turpin wouldn't let his daughter play on the sidewalk in front of their home.

“She’d be in the backyard and only then with supervision because the bad stuff was happening just over the fence,” said Turpin.

Until he documented what he saw and contacted the neighborhood watch commander, Officer Vargas. “It was tough until I found the right officer that really put his head down and took care of it,” said Turpin.

Police told us it took about two weeks to get rid of the riffraff.

Turpin, who still owns the home but has since moved to Palm Beach Gardens, has no plans to take the sign down.

“I'll leave it there until it rots away,” said Turpin. “They need to continue to get the recognition and know they're helping that neighborhood out not just there but all of West Palm Beach.”

Jessi, added, “Thank you west Palm Beach Police Department.”

If you see suspicious activity on your street, call the West Palm Police Department's anonymous tip line at (561) 822 -1701 and police will look into it.
