Harrouff spent 49 days in the hospital before deputies arrested him. It was during his time in the hospital that Harrouff spoke with Dr. Phil via Skype. He talked with the television talk show host voluntarily and his lawyers claim he did so without their knowledge.

In a statement, Attorney Nellie King claimed "Austin has a psychological break, as evidenced by the auditory and visual hallucination and paranoia."

"He remains under treatment for his mental issues at the present time," she said.

During the interview, Harrouff admitted he may be mentally ill.

The son of John Stevens, one of the victims, said it's hard to feel sorry for the person accused of killing his father and stepmother.

"Just because he might look like you, or he might look like your kids friends, or your friends, or whatever, this is somebody who is very evil. It`s been very sad. It`s a difficult thing to deal with," said Stevens.

Harrouff is in jail awaiting for trial.
