WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.-- This year’s Autism Speaks Palm Beach Walk happens in downtown West Palm Beach. It’s a cause Channel 5 proudly sponsors.

Registration for the walk opens at 9 a.m. at the Meyer Amphitheater at 105 Evernia Street.

The event is expected to draw thousands of people to the waterfront. It will raise money for medical research and help families with children on the autism spectrum.

According to the CDC, 1 in 68 children have autism.

Families and sponsors have been working hard and raising money for the walk. This year they raised $300,000.

The opening ceremony starts at 9:15 a.m. Our very own Mike Trim will be the emcee.

The two-mile walk starts at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Datura Street and Flager Drive.

Registration is free.
