"I'm still not even certain as I stand here today about what happened," Casey Anthony tells the Associated Press.

Years later, Anthony maintains whatever happened to her two-year old daughter is a mystery.

Anthony gave her first interview in nearly nine years to Josh Replogle of the AP.

It's been six years since a jury found her not guilty of killing her daughter Caylee.

"To your understanding how did she die?" Replogle asked Anthony in an audio recording.

"I don't know," Anthony responds.

"You don't know? Something about drowning possible?" Replogle asks Anthony.

"Everyone else has their theories. I don't know," Anthony responds.

Replogle met Anthony while covering an anti-Donald Trump protest on Palm Beach.

They met several more times off the record, and then Anthony said he could go with the story.

"I still can't believe it," Replogle says, "I asked her several times "Why are you talking to me?" and she said I don't know."

Anthony now lives in West Palm Beach working for the private detective who was lead investigator on her defense team.

Replogle says Anthony can't remember the final moments of her daughter's life.

"I think it's very interesting how she doesn't remember things. She can remember specific details, right up until her daughter disappeared, then it's a blank spot."

She told Replogle she still thinks of her daughter daily.

"She keeps photos bedside, her artwork, she talks about living her everyday life, like living her for daughter," he says.

Replogle says after dozens of hours of meeting with her face to face, only a few really know what happened to that little girl.

"I think only three people can answer that question and it's Casey and her parents."
