A full day of training for law enforcement is occurring Monday at the Port of Palm Beach.

Once every 18 months, the port is required to have what they call full-scale security training.

The public is urged not to be alarmed if they see a heavy law enforcement presence in the area.  Signs have been posted to alert the public there is a drill beginning at 7 a.m. and not to be alarmed.

Eight agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Riviera Beach and West Palm Beach police departments will take part in the training.

The main mission of “Operation Guardian” is to train for hostage situations, active shooters and even the hijacking of a city bus.

About 120 actors will be participating in the training.

Officials said the drill should last most of the day with the primary staging area being conducted at Jim Barry Light Harbor Park located at 1800 Broadway in Riviera Beach.
