Still no arrests in attempted abduction

The man deputies say tried to abduct a 10-year-old boy is still out there.

Investigators say the attempted abduction happened more than five weeks ago in suburban Lake Worth.

Investigators say they continue to comb through every lead in the case. But with no arrests that means the family has to be more aware, and more vigilant, when it comes to their son's safety.

David Harman says for him and his wife, it feels like a lifetime ago since someone tried to kidnap their 10-year-old son.

Their boy went to get a ball outside of their home in Lake Charleston. But more than five weeks after the frightening encounter, “He tends to stay closer when we're outside,” explained Harman. “He's definitely more aware of his surroundings more than he used to be.”

Still, there has been no sign of the abductor. His face was sketched from witness descriptions.

“He just looks at it and says, 'OK that might be the guy,' ” said Harman about his son. “Hopefully he is caught soon.”

So the family bought an alarm necklace that David's wife wears when she's out with the kids. “If they see anything suspicious we told them or somebody is coming up to them just to pull it,” said Harman.

And the neighborhood home owners association is rallying to buy security cameras in the development

“That's really one of our biggest hopes that comes out of this,” said Harman.

Harman and his neighbors hope to find out more about the placement of those security cameras at the HOA meeting next month

Anyone with information about the man in the sketch, should call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 800.458 TIPS.
