(Health-Day News) -- High intensity interval training involves cardiovascular exercise in short intervals at high intensity.

The American Council on Exercise says benefits may include:

Improved anaerobic and aerobic fitness.

Increased sensitivity to insulin, and decreased fasting insulin.

Reductions in belly fat and fat deposits just beneath the skin.

Improvements in fitness with less time commitment.
