St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara and public schools Superintendent E. Wayne Gent will make an announcement Tuesday morning regarding student safety.

They will be speaking at Floresta Elementary at 8:15 a.m. for a special announcement on new measures to keep St. Lucie County students safe.

This comes after school and law enforcement leaders in the county met to review safety procedures late last month.

They said they wanted a school resource officer at every school and emphasized the importance of working with students to help keep everyone safe.
