Man charged with killing Florida chef, dumping body in canal

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man is charged with killing a chef, using his credit cards and dumping his body into a canal.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's officials say Robert Thompson had drinks with 49-year-old Chef Stanley Parrales. Video footage shows them leaving a restaurant together.

Co-workers were alarmed when Parrales didn't show up to work at the restaurant where they say he'd never missed a day in nearly 20 years. Fishermen found his decomposed remains Wednesday.

The Palm Beach Post reports deputies found Thompson sitting in Parrales' car along with blood and evidence that someone had tried to clean it.

Thompson was charged Thursday with second-degree murder, fraudulent use of a credit card, and grand theft of motor vehicle.

An arrest report says the two knew each other but the extent of their relationship is unclear.
