Blackberry Thumb

You've heard of carpel tunnel syndrome. Now people who use portable texting devices are reporting a new injury. Doctors are seeing more people showing up with afflictions related to PDA's. They're calling it Blackberry thumb.

"They say when you use a hand-held device your hands are in a very abnormal position."

One user actually got an operation last year for a cyst in her wrist. Now she has another one in her thumb.

"I have to have that surgically removed in two weeks and that's all from all day long"

The best advice? Limit the amount of time and frequency you spend texting. You can also try anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen, wearing protective wrist splints, and soaking your hand in warm water.
