HPV Vaccine July 28, 2006 at 3:11 PM EST - Updated July 1 at 10:05 PM A relatively new vaccine is now available locally for HPV. The vaccine could protect women from getting the Human Papiloma Virus. The virus can lead to cervical cancer. Doctors in our area are finally starting to get the vaccine and are offering it to young girls with their parent's permission. "It has taken a little while but we do finally have an effective vaccine for what most people don't understand is the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the country, especially among young young people from 15 to 19" Experts believe this new vaccine could save some 3500 lives a year in the U-S alone.
