You've heard of Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari... but have you heard of Mosler? It is an extreme performance car company producing a vehicle unlike anything you've ever seen. I got an exclusive inside look at the company based right here in Riviera Beach.

It is one of the hottest cars in the world and believe it or not, it's built right here in our area.

Mosler Automotive was started in 1985 in Riviera Beach by a man named Warren Mosler. As you can see, his cars have evolved over the years and so has his company.

Jill Wagner/Mosler: "This counter behind you was a parts counter. You could actually come in here and buy parts for your cars...have your car serviced."

But now this company is all about building the MT900, and building it well. Most cars are made of steel and aluminum. The MT900 is carbon fiber and kevlar, the same material bullet-proof vests are made of. It weighs just 2500 pounds, almost a thousand pounds less than your average sports sedan.

Jill Wagner/Mosler: "And when you couple that with 435 horsepower motor, you go 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds."

The MT900 is an ultra-exclusive car. There are only about 10 of these on the road worldwide. They just sold the first street-legal car outside of the company to director George Lucas. But his isn't red.  It's a color Mosler Automotive officials call Vadar Black.

Jill Wagner/Mosler: "He could have any car on the planet and he chose ours."

The word is out. The Riviera Beach plant is now turning out 15 orders for the MT 900. Wagner says at almost $190,000, it's affordable. Compared to other extreme performance vehicles, she says it costs about half as much.

Jill Wagner/Mosler: "It's a very special a very attractive price."

But if you want one, don't come here. You can only get the MT900 through the dealership in Anaheim, California.  Much like any other car company, you don't go to the plant to buy the car, you go to the dealership.

It takes about 30 people 10 weeks to produce one MT900, hence the price. By the way, the racing derivative of that car won both the British and Spanish GT Championships. It beat both the Ferrari Enzo and the Porsche Carrera.
