Beliefnet

Testing your faith or just trying to find a religion? We may have an answer for you. It's called belief-net, a website that supposed to point you to the right religion based on what you believe. We put it to the test.

"One god. We'll go with one god."

It wasn't easy finding local religious leaders willing to take the Belief-O-Matic Quiz.

"Okay, I'll go with that."

But Rabbi Steven Westman from Temple Beth-El in West Palm Beach wasn't afraid.

"Other human incarnations. Choose one. I think it's great. This is really very good. Shake you up a little bit you know."

You might be shaken up by Rabbi Westman's results, but first about BeliefNet. It was started by this man, Steven Waldman, who used to be the National Editor for US News and World Report.

"I saw this enormous thirst for information about religion and spirituality and no one in the mainstream media providing it."

It is cool, it's a very cool idea."

"I don't think you can choose something as intimate and personal as religion by going on the internet and answering questions because who wrote the questions?"

Beliefnet claims it is not affiliated with any spiritual organization, but Rabbi Westman is. So let's see if Beliefnet believes he's Jewish.

"I'm a liberal quaker, a unitarian universalist, or a neo-pagan, but reform judaism, which I was ordained in comes up 86-percent, thank god! that's pretty close."

Harris Riordan the minister at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Boca Raton also took the test, but she was pretty much right on.

"My top two answers are secular humanist and unitarian universalist."

Another local unitarian minister told us a lot of people find they are unitarian with this quiz.

"There's a huge diversity of beliefs in our congregation and a great acceptance of the fact that people believe different things."

Whatever you believe, Rabbi Westman thinks taking the quiz is a good idea. And he suggests answering for yourself. Not for your religion.

"It is possible to take this thing and give all the answers that you would expect to give. give all the textbook ones, but if you're really honest about it, you come up with different ways of looking at it. isn't this an interesting thing to see what you actually feel about the religion you were raised in?"

Take the quiz.
