JAIPUR, India (AP) - A 73-year-old Indian farmer says he won't give up trying to pass his tenth grade exams even though he has failed for the 39th time.
Jatav didn't have any formal education as a child. He's been trying to pass the test since 1969, when an army recruiter told him it would improve his chances of being accepted into the military.
This time, Jatav passed only one subject: the ancient language of Sanskrit.
Even though he is too old to join the army he has kept trying to pass the test, hoping it will lead to marriage and a better job.
Jatav says he has never married because women tell him that he isn't properly educated. Still, he says he's a happy man.
