OCALA, Fla. (AP) - An Ocala mother must spend time in jail because she failed to re-enroll her daughter in middle school.
Dianne Chatman's daughter had truancy issues. Chatman is being held in contempt of court because she ignored the judge's order to re-enroll her daughter in middle school.
The girl had been enrolled at a middle school but was ordered to attend a delinquency prevention center. She was enrolled at the center for 32 days and a Marion County School District spokesman says she never attended the center.
A judge then ordered Chatman to re-enroll her daughter at middle school, which she never did. That's why she was charged with contempt of court.
