COPY-Man charged with killing pregnant girlfriend ordered held on $5 million

Associated Press - June 25, 2007 4:43 PM ET

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - The mother of a pregnant Ohio woman who was found dead over the weekend says she wanted to make sure the man accused in the killing saw her in court today.

Canton police officer Bobby Cutts has been charged with the murders of Jessie Davis and her unborn child. He stood expressionless behind a window separating him from the courtroom during an arraignment hearing this afternoon. A judge ordered him held on five million dollars bond.

Davis' family sat a few feet away. Her mother, Patricia Porter, stood in the court's front row staring at Cutts as he looked toward the audience. She later said she wouldn't sit when she saw Cutts, "to make sure he knew" she was there.

Porter stood again when a former high school classmate of Cutts -- who's accused of lying to investigators about the case -- was ordered held on $500,000 bond.
