Associated Press - June 25, 2007 3:24 AM ET

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy is recovering from her injuries today after she was struck by another car.

Deputy Melissa Ondrick was driving home from an off-duty job around 4:45 am yesterday when the collision occurred.

Authorities say Benjamin Bacca Arroyo ran a red light and struck Ondrick's marked patrol car. The two were taken to Tampa General Hospital. Ondrick was treated for a broken shoulder.

Arroyo told investigators he had consumed alcohol. Investigators took a blood sample from him but have not filed charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
