COPY-Divers fail to find body of worker after backhoe sinks

Associated Press - June 26, 2007 12:14 PM ET

MIRAMAR, Fla. (AP) - The body of a Miramar construction worker missing after his backhoe sank in a manmade retention pond has been found.

Authorities say Aaron West got trapped underwater yesterday morning when the crane he was operating slipped into the water. He apparently drowned in the 25-foot-deep pond.

His body was found this morning. Rescue workers had searched the murky waters for nine hours yesterday.

A city recreation park is being built at the site.
