COPY-Authorities probe Benoit Wikipedia entry

Associated Press - June 29, 2007 6:13 AM ET

ATLANTA (AP) - Investigators are looking into another mystery concerning pro wrestler Chris Benoit (ben-WAH')

Someone altered Benoit's Wikipedia entry to mention his wife's death hours before authorities discovered the bodies of the couple and their 7-year-old son.

Benoit's Wikipedia entry was altered early Monday to say the wrestler had missed a match two days earlier because of his wife's death.

A Wikipedia official, Cary Bass, says the entry was made by someone using an Internet protocol address registered in Stamford, Connecticut, where World Wrestling Entertainment is based. It's not known where the posting was sent from.

Authorities say Benoit strangled his wife and son during the weekend before killing himself.

Federal drug agents said yesterday they raided the Georgia office of a doctor who said he had prescribed testosterone to Benoit.
