TITUSVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Republican state representative is saying his arrest on a charge of solicitation for prostitution is "a very big misunderstanding."
Merritt Island Republican Bob Allen was arrested yesterday after allegedly offering to perform oral sex for $20 on an undercover officer in Titusville.
Police had Veteran's Memorial Park under surveillance yesterday. Authorities say Allen was seen coming in and out of a restroom multiple times before approaching the officer.
Allen posted a $500 bond yesterday. On his way to the Brevard County jail, he told WFTV that the situation was "a very big misunderstanding."
Allen is married and the father of 1. He was elected to the Florida House in 2000. He did not respond to messages seeking comment from The Associated Press.
