Learn to two step at Renegades

Whether you were born and raised country or a city slicker, line dancing is always a good time. And the place to be is Renegades located just west of Military Trail on Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach.

Every week line dance instructor Nancy Jenkins spends her evenings teaching others to literally follow in her footsteps. I managed to steal her away for a moment to talk about her reputable dance classes.

Nancy has been teaching at Renegades for a year; however, she's been line dancing for 15.

So why has she been doing it so long? "It gets me out of the house. It gets me doing something, and I have a lot of fun. I met my husband dancing."

And, if you need one more reason to kick up some dust...

"[You can] come in here, have fun and stay in shape," says Renegades regular John McKinney. "It definitely beats the treadmill."

The main thing is: Don't get discouraged. It typically takes four to five weeks for most to catch on.

Renegades is opened Tuesday through Saturday with doors opening at 7 p.m. for dance classes. And once you're comfortable with the basic dances, Nancy will be starting a "Beginners Plus" class in August.

I talked with one happy couple who were enjoying their weekly, stress free date.

John Brandenstein and Diane Mooney, Renegades regulars, say "We've become regulars. [We're here] every Wednesday without fail."

You can either shuffle around the dance floor solo or you can do it "Rhea Style".

Rhea Inman, Renegades regular, "I'd rather dance with a tall, good lookin' man."

And, there's plenty of cowboys and cowgirls to chose from.

Well, I wasn't the greatest student; however, Nancy said she wouldn't give up on me. So, I'm going to try it again.
