Dozens of pets die in Miami area pet shop blaze

Dozens of pets have died in a pet shop blaze Miami-Dade County firefighters are investigating.

Fire rescue spokesman Elkin Sierra says about 50 birds, two dogs and a rabbit were trapped in their cages and died. The Saber Pet and Farm Supply caught fire early this morning in Hialeah Gardens.

The animals likely died from smoke inhalation. Fire officials don't believe the blaze was intentional.

Several other animals were rescued.
