Commissioners want nightclubs banned from PGA

PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens is known for its shopping and restaurants. But city leaders don't want it known for nightclubs.

City commissioners are voting Thursday night on changing the law to prevent late night partying at clubs.

They say they found Noche, a Latin fusion restaurant, charged people a cover to come in and dance after 10 p.m. The special magistrate for the city of Palm Beach Gardens ruled the restaurant violated city law by turning into a club after 10 p.m.

The council is set to finalize a new measure banning all nightclubs, lounges and bars in general from PGA Boulevard Thursday night.

There are already some businesses banned from PGA Boulevard. The ban goes back from 2000; it includes car dealerships, mobile homes and big-box stores.
