COPY-Bail hearing set for men accused of killing "Joe Cool" crew members

Associated Press - October 23, 2007 10:24 AM ET

MIAMI (AP) - A bail hearing is scheduled today in federal court in Miami for two men accused of killing four charter boat crew members.

Kirby Archer and Guillermo Zarabozo boarded the "Joe Cool" on September 22nd. The crew was last heard from a day later. The day after that, the Coast Guard found the pair in the boat's life raft, a few miles from the abandoned vessel. No one was aboard.

The two men claim they were attacked at sea by Cuban pirates who fatally shot the boat's captain, wife and two crew members and ordered their bodies thrown in the ocean. The men say these pirates spared them and left aboard another vessel after the "Joe Cool" ran out of fuel.
