Police are searching for a suspect who, they say, fatally shot a Miami city police officer.
A police spokesman says Detective James Walker was found shot to death in his unmarked patrol car early Tuesday morning. North Miami Beach officers responding to reports of shots fired found him in an alley.
Police are now following blood trails leading from Walker's car.
He went off-duty around 11 Monday night. It's not clear what he was doing in North Miami Beach.
He apparently was shot with a high-powered weapon.
The 30-year-old had been a member of the Miami police since 2000. He worked with the department's domestic violence unit.
This is the fourth fatal shooting of a South Florida officer in the past six months.
