Deputies injured after violent traffic stop

Three Palm Beach County deputies are out of the hospital Wednesday morning after a man hits one deputy with his car, gets shot, leads another deputy on a chase, and then gets into a fight.

It all happened near Lake Worth around 12 a.m. Wednesday.

Sheriff's deputies received a call about a suspicious car at the Princeton Place Apartment Complex.

A deputy spotted a white 2002 Hyundai Accent heading north on Military Trail and then turning east on Hypoluxo. That's when another deputy responded.

When both deputies pulled the car over and approached the driver, he sped off hitting one of the deputies. The other fired his gun at the suspect who has not been named yet.

When the driver of the car bailed and tried to flee on foot, two deputies began fighting with him, and, at one point, authorities say the man tried to reach for one of the deputies gun. But, eventually, he was subdued and arrested.

Two of the deputies that were injured were taken to JFK Hospital where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect, in this case, was also injured. He is also being treated for non-life threatening injuries at the Delray Medical Center.

No word yet on exactly what charges will be filed against him, but, authorities say, he could face among other charges the attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
