Former OH police officer begs jury to spare his life

An Ohio jury hears closing arguments today in a case in which it must decide whether to recommend the death penalty for a former police officer.

Bobby Cutts was on the stand again yesterday, tearfully pleading with jurors to spare his life. The same panel convicted him of murder in the deaths of his pregnant lover and their unborn child.

The prosecutors say Cutts deserves to die for his crimes. They said he killed Jessie Davis and the baby to avoid making child support payments.

Cutts was also convicted of abuse of a corpse and child endangering.
