Boys hit by car

Two young boys are recovering at St. Mary's Medical Center Monday morning after being hit by a car on 33rd Street in Riviera Beach.

Family members say 6-year-old Paul Thomas and 7-year-old Jaquan Thompkins were crossing the street to play video games at Thompkins' house. Investigators say the driver, Angela Turner, hit the children while they were playing on the north side of the street.

Thomas' grandmother says just last week she asked the city to lay speed bumps along 33rd because of the increase in speedy drivers. "I know they ain't gonna do it until someone is killed. That's the way I feel about it. Too many kids play on this street, and they come through here speeding all the time."

It's unclear whether Turner was speeding. Police have not yet charged anyone.
