Even if the numbers didn't show it, Minnesota Twins left-hander Francisco Liriano says he's progressed over the last two weeks.
Liriano had one strikeout, walked two and gave up three earned runs today as the Florida Marlins defeated the Minnesota Twins 5-3.
Liriano threw 59 pitches, 33 for strikes.
Liriano says he thinks he'll be good enough to start the season. He had 15 months off to recover from "Tommy John" surgery on his left elbow.
Liriano continued to throw more fastballs. He avoided relying on his slider, which puts more stress on the elbow.
Liriano says he threw at about 80% after the first outing in spring training, and 90 to 95% in the second. Today, he says he threw 100%.
