Possible suspension for American General Life Insurance

State insurance regulators are moving to suspend American General Life Insurance from doing business in the state.

The action comes after the state received complaints that the company had violated the state's Freedom to Travel Act. It's the first time Florida has sought to suspend a company for violating that particular statute.

The legislature passed the law in 2006 after receiving reports that insurance companies were denying or changing premiums for travel policies based on where the person intended to travel.
