CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa Bay area father has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for slamming his 7-week-old son to the floor for refusing to take his formula.

Taylor James Keck suffered severe brain injuries and died after being removed from life support.

Greg Ellguth was arrested in May 2005. He accepted the sentence Tuesday without facing trial in exchange for prosecutors not seeking the death penalty.

The 6-foot-7 Ellguth confessed to investigators that he hurled the baby to the floor after the boy's mother stepped outside for a cigarette.

Ellguth will serve 40 years for a second-degree murder charge and another 10 years for an aggravated child abuse charge.
