Atlanta: It pays to go to school, literally

It pays to earn at one school, literally. High school students at Suburban Atlanta are attending remedial classes to earn better grades and a paycheck.

It's a privately funded program called Earn and Learn. The program targets students struggling in math or science and pays them $8 an hour to attend after school courses.

Students say it's paying off and not just financially.

"It helps both my grades in math and science," claims one student.

Organizers are awaiting the results of an independent evaluation next month before deciding whether to expand the pilot program, but they say all 40 students who are getting paid to study have improved their grades.
