House fire under investigation

LAKE WORTH, FL (Fox 29) - The blaze occurred at 8:14 a.m. on Fourth Avenue at the corner of Dixie Highway. The fire has been extinguished, and nobody was hurt in the incident.

At least one woman and her cats were in the building when the fire started. The woman says she and her cats got out safely, and confirmed that no one else was in the building.

Lake Worth Fire Rescue claims an investigator with the State Fire Marshal's Office has been called. The fire fighters received reports of a suspicious observation that might suggest that arson would be the cause.

Fire Rescue indicated the possibility of arson is speculation, but the report is being looked into.

Firefighters say they saw flames shooting from the first floor, the second floor and the roof.

The apartment is an older structure and was revamped into two apartments. The fire fighters had to put out some hidden pockets of fire, which made fighting the fire much more difficult.
