WEST BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX) - UPDATE: Police getting several tips to the Crime Stoppers hotline after a West Boca teen was shot and killed. It wasn't a random attack, but the motive remains a mystery.

The killer shot a gun through a bedroom window overnight on Liberty Court in West Boca Raton.

"This is Boca Raton, you know, as bad as it can get is, you know, a fight. No one shoots in Boca Raton. No one."

But, someone did shoot 17-year-old Tyler Kennett early Thursday morning leaving his neighbors and friends shocked. "I just went back, and, all of the sudden, police came up, and people started crowding around the front. Then, Tyler came out on a stretcher," describes a witness.

Kennett is described by friends as a fun kid who loved motorcross. His buddies say they never knew him to have bad blood with anyone.

But, his life came to an abrupt end while he hung out with friends at a neighbor's house near Western Boca Raton.

This, after, investigators say, someone opened fire on the window of one of the bedrooms in a premeditated attack. "People didn't drive up and down this block arbitrarily shooting a gun off," one comments.

"I really don't understand why a 17-year-old kid would be the target of a shooting; especially, around here. It's ridiculous; it's ridiculous," another adds.

And that's a question many people want to know the answer to right now. The suspect or suspects in this case are still on the loose - a dangerous individual or group of people carrying a weapon.

Investigators tell us Kennett did have some minor run-ins with law enforcement, and that he was attending an alternative school in Delray Beach.

If you know anything about the shooting, call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
