Jupiter pilot dies in plane crash

PEMBROKE PINES, FL (Fox 29) - A man from Jupiter, Douglas Pohl, died in an experimental aircraft crash on Monday.

So far, authorities will not say if he actually died in the crash. The single engine aircraft crashed shortly after take-off.

One man, Larry Cappolino, who works at the airport said the plane had engine problems over the past few weeks. "He flies out of here daily. For some reason, I guess some unfortunate thing happened here. He was troubleshooting a fuel delivery problem about a month ago, with him and some friends, but since then he had been flying it almost daily."

An airport spokesperson says the pilot had engine trouble moments after take-off, as he attempted to return to the runway, the plane clipped a fence surrounding a nearby tennis court. The FAA will continue their investigation on Tuesday.
