TOLEDO (WTOL) - A Toledo woman claiming she witnessed sexual activity on July 13 at the IHOP restaurant on Talmadge Road is now demanding the restaurant chain take action.
The woman did not want to be identified, but she's openly talking about what happened that Sunday at 2 p.m. when she and her husband, 3-year-old daughter and baby were having a family meal.
"I subtly tried to look around to see what was going on, and I could not believe what I actually saw," the woman said.
She says a man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s were sitting a few booths away when the man started performing a sex act on the woman. The witness claims it lasted for 20 minutes.
"Not even at a sex show, not even at a strip club, not even at a night club would you expect to see that type of behavior," the woman said, claiming she tried to distract her child and alert the waitress.
But she got angry when the assistant manager only told the couple to "knock it off".
"They were not ejected from the restaurant, the police were never notified. They were able to enjoy their meal just as any other customer would," the woman said.
Adam Ayari, IHOP's general manager, acknowledged the situation was not properly handled.
"It was probably a wrong decision. We should have made them go. If it happens again, people would be told to leave," Ayari said.
A representative from corporate headquarters issued a statement: "Guests should experience a warm, welcoming environment. What we've learned concerns us and we want to get to the bottom of this."
