BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) - You can buy groceries. You can buy cigarettes.

But come Sunday mornings in Boynton Beach, there's one big thing you still can't buy: alcohol.

A city law preventing Sunday morning liquor sales got one step closer to changing on Tuesday night when city commissioners voted 3-2 to allow alcohol sales on Sunday mornings.

The vote followed a first reading of the ordinance. The measure must still clear a second reading, scheduled for August 19, before it can become law.

The city's liquor laws - sometimes referred to as "blue laws" - have been in place since 1947. Several other cities in Palm Beach County have similar laws on the books.
