FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - A jury has been seated for the trial of 2 young men accused of beating homeless men in Broward County two years ago, 1 of them fatally.

Opening statements are scheduled Thursday in the trial of 21-year-old Brian Hooks and 19-year-old Thomas Daugherty. Both face life in prison if convicted of murder and attempted murder in the January 2006 attacks.

One attack was caught on surveillance video and broadcast around the world. Forty-5-year-old Norris Gaynor died after he was beaten with baseball bats and other objects.

The jury was seated despite concern the case might have to be moved elsewhere due to intense media coverage. One man involved in the attacks has pleaded guilty and will testify against the other two.
