WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - The 18-year-old victim of a local alligator attack once told reporters he felt lucky to be alive.

This week, Kasey Edwards has something else to be thankful for: a new arm.

Physicians outfitted the Okeechobee teenager with the prosthetic limb when he appeared on the tv show The Doctors earlier this month.

"My friends, they paid me $30 to swim across the canal," Edwards told the show's producers, recounting his late-night June swim. "I felt something clamp down. My arm was found later in the belly of the alligator."

Edwards has gone the past three months adjusting to his new life with only one arm.

"I got one good writing hand, you know. I can hunt and peck on the keyboard," Edwards told Fox 29 from the hospital back in June. "I gotta say: life's hard enough with two arms, so one less ain't gonna be too much worse."

Edwards will be outfitted with the new arm during Thursday's episode of The Doctors on our sister station, CBS 12.
