Sebastian River student claims vicious attack on bus

The accusations come from a 6th grader at Sebastian River Middle School. The student says two older boys ganged up on him on their way back from a soccer game.

Tuesday, parents, like Shawna Cerda, were shocked, "That a kid would even do that, that's just wrong."

Other parents, like Diane McGarvey, were frustrated, "I don't think hazing should be something that is in any middle school, high school or college."

They heard the claims that two boys used an apple pie box to sexually violate a 6th grade boy on a school bus. Seventh Grader, Shane McGarvey, heard the story in the hallways, "Just that it was funny, but I don't really think so."

He's like other classmates who found it gross. Still some students tell us, many thought it was funny.

Last week on the bus trip back from a co-ed soccer game, a 6th grader told authorities a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old pulled his pants down. He says the two boys held his face against a window and used the crumpled apple pie box to violate him. Then, they put him on the floor and held him their while others tried to take pictures. The student removed the box and began to throw-up.

The co-ed soccer season is now canceled. Some parents don't agree with that, "I don't know if I'd cancel the entire season as long as the kids that were involved are punished. Then, that's appropriate."

The two boys are being punished by the Indian River County Sheriff's Office. They are charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and sexual battery on a person under 12. Two teachers on the bus have been suspended with pay for the time being.

Statements taken from witnesses on the bus confirm the 6th graders story. Also, one of the suspects told deputies, he thought, what he did would be funny, but knew it was wrong and apologizes.

Indian River County School District Officials refused to comment Tuesday. They did tell us the case is under investigation, but have no comment on the students status in school and have no comment on if they will change policies at the school.
