Post Election Day: Gun sales spike

Posted by Rachel Leigh email

(WFLX) - More Americans appear to be exercising their right to bear arms.

Since Tuesday's election, many gun shop owners have reported a spike in sales. They say, the surge has to do with fears that an Obama Administration would tighten gun control.

Charles Gilbert, Target World, described, "9-11, when that happened, or when the riots happened a couple years ago, sales peaked during those time periods, but nothing to what we're seeing today. No comparison."

Obama has said that he respects the constitutional right to bear arms, but he would support "common sense" gun laws.

As an Illinois state legislator, Obama called for tighter restrictions on all firearms, and he supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons.
