WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A car slams into a house catches on fire, and the driver is on life support.

A white convertible plowing into this home along Parker Avenue. One look at the car, and it really is a miracle the driver is still alive.

The driver rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The white car appears to have been traveling southbound on Parker Avenue near Avenida Hermosa in West Palm Beach.

According to investigators, the driver somehow lost control of the vehicle, and ended up slamming through a chain link fence then into a home. The front part of the engine catching on fire shortly thereafter.

Now, one neighbor we spoke to had just finished walking home along the very same side walk this car jumped. And, he says, it wasn't more than a minute after he got home he and his family heard the loud bang. "I heard the next door neighbor screaming, so I ran over there, and, then, I saw the car that was pushed into the house. And, then after that we were looking at the guy, and he wasn't doing really well. And the car caught on fire so the neighbors started hosing it down with a water hose. I saw the driver doing this. And he looked like if he was having a seizure."

By all accounts, a frightening experience for the Travieso family and for neighbors out here. And both Arisley and his father tell me people do like to speed up and down Parker Avenue. A problem, they say, has been going on for many years.

Whether speed played a role in this accident has yet to be determined. We do know that the driver of the car was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition as of now.
