STUART, FL (WFLX) - Melanie Mitchell speaks only to Fox 29 about her side of the story before she turns herself in.

Here's the exclusive interview with the main suspect in the stabbing of five women at Martin County High School. Melanie Mitchell speaks only to Fox 29 about her side of the story before she turns herself in to detectives at our Treasure Coast newsroom.

"We have had police involved in this argument about 20 times," Melanie said. "I did not have a knife. I did not stab anyone.  They had the knife."

Since the Friday Night Lights ended with a the stabbing of five women, police have been searching for suspect number one.

"We have one suspect. We know who they are," said Martin County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Mark Middleton at a press conference Monday.

Meet the one suspect. She said she wanted to tell the truth before turning herself in.

Reporter Jana Eschbach: "And the truth is?"

Suspect Melanie Mitchell: "No, I didn't stab anyone. No."

She came out of hiding to speak exclusively to Fox 29.

She said she did not start any fight; they came after her.

Mitchell: "About 50 people came and was jumping on us, the four people I was with."

Eschbach: "So, it was 50 against five?"

Mitchell: "Yeah five or four of us."

Eschbach: "You are saying they were coming after you?"

Mitchell: "Yeah, they followed me to my car."

Eschbach: "They were going to beat you up?"

Mitchell: "Yes."

Eschbach: "Who had the knife?"

Mitchell: "Prescious.. I don't know her last name."

Eschbach: "The girl who got stabbed."

Mitchell: "I believe she had the knife... I was just blinking in and out. I don't know who had."

Eschbach: "You didn't have the knife?"

Mitchell: "No I didn't have the knife."

Sixteen-year-old Prescious Davis was wounded in the fight at the school - stabbed in the leg.

We asked Davis who stabbed her.

She answered, "Melanie... She took her knife out of her side. And, then, she just went go like this with the knife... to everybody... the main target was me," Davis said.

Eschbach: "Why would they all say that you had the knife?"

Mitchell: "She is so jealous of me. She hate to see me with anybody, any friends, anybody. She just hates me so much."

Prescious and Melanie have a lengthy criminal history. Fight after fight ending with a restraining order against Melanie.

Mitchell: "They will try to get to me, but they gonna kill me."

Eschbach: "You think this will end with someone dead."

Mitchell: "Yes.. and I think it might be me."

Melanie wanted her side of the story out. And, then, as agreed, we had Martin County Detectives waiting to take her to jail.

The main suspect claiming self-defense - adamant she did not stab anyone.

The reason this whole thing started is the women used to be friends. Last year, the dispute began because Melanie did not invite Prescious to her graduation at South Fork High School.  Now, it has escalated to a multiple-stabbing.

Melanie is in jail Monday night denying she wielded the knife.
